AWP Encouraged by 2026 Scottish Parliament & England Local Election Results

Animal Welfare Party is encouraged by its results in the Scottish Parliament and England Local Elections which took place on Thursday, 7th May. 

In the Edinburgh & Lothians East Region in the Scottish Parliament Elections​, AWP received 2032 votes / 0.6%.

Despite an extremely limited campaign budget and almost no media coverage, the party ranked 9th out of 22 parties contesting the region.

AWP support the repeal of Section 24

The Animal Welfare Party has given its backing to the campaign to repeal Section 24 of the Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, which places a blanket ban on regulators releasing
any information from animal experimentation laboratories.

The campaign, organized by the National Anti-Vivisection Society (NAVS), is also supported by PETA UK, Animal Aid and the Campaign for the Freedom of Information, among others.
